Series Clandestine Beauty / Serie Heimlich schön

Cordial invitation to Wunschpunsch (wish punch), guided tour and talk with punch on November 28, 2023 at 6 pm in the House of the Catholic Church Stuttgart.
Wishful thinking is a cognitive distortion that describes the human tendency to believe what we want to be true rather than what is actually true. Unlike material desires, wishful thinking is immaterial and operates in the realm of utopia. In view of the current global crises, we find the most diverse forms of wishful thinking in all areas of our society. A dreamed escape into a paradise of thoughts has something comforting about it, but it becomes critical when we can no longer distinguish between reality and wishful thinking. The artists of GEDOKStuttgart have interpreted the theme artistically in just as many variations – as correspondences of their own utopia, reflections of their own lost existence, images of illusions, hopes, twisted forms of reality, social bubbles into which no hint of doubt dares to penetrate, despots that nourish wishful thinking, straws that have saved someone from drowning. The exhibition is juried and divided into two parts: One part will be shown in the Haus der Katholischen Kirche, a smaller part in the GEDOK Gallery starting November 24.

The exhibition Wunschdenken (wishful thinking) was opened on November 16 with an introduction of Vivien Sigmund. The duration is from 17.11.23 – 05.01.24,
Mo-Fr 9 am to 7 pm.
