Talking lips can be seen in the film, but only fragments of words can be heard. The spoken text is a poem from the 8th century by Umm Djafar Bint Ali al-Hashimia from the book “The Wings of My Heavy Heart,” poetry by Arab women poets.
With the short poem printed, she responded to a man who angrily berated her after she rejected his marriage proposal:
Depart from us with your anger!
You are no husband for me.
You are neither rich
nor godly.
You want to possess me with
weak mind and stubborn stupidity.
